Milwaukee's National Bobblehead museum releases 150th Kentucky Derby collectibles

The 150th Kentucky Derby happens this Saturday, and the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame & Museum is getting in on the action.

The museum is releasing two new bobbleheads to commemorate the famous thoroughbred stakes race.

"Weôôֱre thrilled to be teaming up with Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby to offer sports fans across the world the opportunity to commemorate the historic 150th running of the Kentucky Derby with two special edition bobbles,ôôֱ said Phil Sklar, National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO.

The Kentucky Derby 150th Anniversary Bobble

The Kentucky Derby 150th Anniversary Bobble dons the Kentucky Derby logo and the 150th Anniversary logo bobbling over a rose-patterned base.

Two Kentucky Derby bobbleheads, commemorating the 150th race at Churchill Downs, are now available from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.

Churchill Downs Twin Spires Bobble

The Churchill Downs Twin Spires Bobble is the first to feature the iconic Twin Spires.

The limited-edition collectible features the grandstand filled with fans behind the track. The sign above the grandstand includes the years of the first Derby, which was in 1875. The base and back of the bobblehead feature the Kentucky Derby 150th Anniversary logo.

How much for the commemorative bobbles?

The Twin Spires Bobble is $40. The anniversary piece is $30. A set of two is available for a discounted price of $65. Shipping is a flat $8 per order. Both collectibles are fully licensed and will be individually numbered.

About the Kentucky Derby

Considered "The Greatest Two Minutes in ôôֱ,ôôֱ a total of 20 3-year-old thoroughbreds compete in the historic 1 1/4-mile Kentucky Derby which is now held annually on the first Saturday in May.

Fifteen horses competed in the first Derby on May 17, 1875, in front of an estimated 10,000 people. The first live radio broadcast hit the air in 1925. The Derby hit the TV in 1949.

About the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame & Museum

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame & Museum is at 170 S. First St., Milwaukee.

Sklar and fellow Rockford, Illinois, native Brad Novak established the museum in Milwaukee in 2014. The museum contains more than 10,000 bobbleheads representing characters from around the world.

Most bobbleheads for sale at the museum range in price from $20 to $60.
