Marla Rae Harned, 77, passed away peacefully in her home in Rockford Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was born May 5, 1946, in Diagonal, Iowa, the daughter of Cecil and Mary Cottrell. She married David Terry Harned on February 1, 1969. Marla attended high school at Guilford, Class of 1964. She liked bowling, gardening, and socializing with her friends and family. She immensely enjoyed spending time with her twin boys, and in recent years, her grandchildren who she loved dearly, having lunch and playing with them every Sunday. Survivors include her two sons, Mark Harned of Rockford, Aaron (Tui) Harned of Rockford, grandchildren Madeleine, Tobias, and Mavis; sister Shirley Carlson, brother, Dean (Marla) Cottrell, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. Predeceased by her parents, husband, brother, Larry (Sharon) Cottrell of Rockford, sister, Kaye (William) Tucker, and brother-in-law David Carlson. Casual memorial gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL, 61103 with Pastor Dave Huffstutler officiating. Greeting from 12:30 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
